Meet the DeSales University Class of 2029

DeSales University is proud to welcome the Class of 2029, a dynamic group of more than 600 new undergraduate students who bring academic talent, diversity, and energy to the community, representing 15 states across the country.

Academically, the Class of 2029 is well prepared for success. Students enter with an average cumulative GPA of 3.4 and average test scores of 27 on the ACT and 1206 on the SAT. Nearly 30 percent of the class reported coming from diverse backgrounds, enriching the campus community with a wide range of perspectives and experiences.

While most students hail from Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey, the DeSales community is also welcoming new Bulldogs from as far as California, Georgia, and Maine.

“This class reflects the growing reach and reputation of DeSales,” says Derrick Wetzel, vice president of enrollment management. “We are thrilled to see so many students choosing DeSales for its combination of academic rigor, supportive community, and Salesian values. The Class of 2029 is already poised to make a meaningful impact on our campus and beyond.”

For the most part, the class of 2029 is part of Generation Alpha, the first generation to grow up entirely in the age of smartphones, streaming, and AI tools. They are known for being socially aware, digitally savvy, and deeply committed to issues such as belonging, wellness, and community impact. For many of them, middle and high school years were shaped by the COVID-19 pandemic, making them especially resilient and adaptable.

First-year student Reese Eslinger of New Gloucester, Maine, is looking forward to life on campus. “My great aunt received her nursing degree from DeSales, and my aunt received her PA degree here, too. It’s exciting to be a third-generation DeSales student! Everyone here is so nice and welcoming. It already feels like a second home,” she says.

As these students begin their journey at DeSales, they bring with them the energy, spirit, and potential that will shape the university’s future. The Class of 2029 is ready to connect, learn, and grow.

The official class size will be confirmed in October following the University’s fall enrollment census.
